OFFICER DOWN TRIBUTE RUN & WALK

Saturday, May 21, 2022

Presented by True Patriots Care, the Officer Down Tribute Run/Walk was a 5K that started and ended at Panton Mill Park at 10 N. Water Street in South Elgin.  The out and back course was along the picturesque running path adjacent the Fox River.

The event honored the 1154 Illinois police officers including 16 K-9s  who made the ultimate sacrifice for the residents of Illinois.

The event was led by Zechariah of Running 4 Heroes. Zechariah has become known nationally for his mission to raise awareness and funds for those fallen in the line of duty.

Zechariah Cartledge was born with the gift of running.  He was raised with an appreciation for first responders and all they do for the community.  As he grew older, Zechariah decided to help the families of our fallen first responders.

This event was held in conjunction with other events held from May 19th to May 22nd including a Flags of Honor field with 1154 flags placed at Panton Mill Park representing every lost officer, a Candlelight Vigil, a Police Pipe Band and a Ride to Remember Motorcycle Run.

The 5K benefited the Illinois Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and the 100 Club of Illinois
